Career Development

Career development is the process of self-knowledge, exploration, and decision-making that shapes your career. It requires successfully navigating your occupational options to choose and train for jobs that suit your personality, skills, and interests (Dawn Rosenberg McKay, https://www.thebalancecareers.com, August 2020)

Finding one’s purpose in life is daunting. Whether 10, 18, 30 or 60, knowing what we should be when we grow up weighs heavy on our minds. While working with numerous college students and alumni, we have seen firsthand how challenging it can be to choose a career path. These days, the pressure to make career decisions happens at an even younger age. One’s career journey does not end with that first career choice.

Adults may be faced with career changes that they may not have expected, particularly because of economic hardships due to the Covid-19 pandemic. People are living longer. More and more older adults are starting a second career after retiring from their first. We feel called to help people who might need career counseling or the knowledge to find their way.
